Task: To develop a brand for a line of national cheeses - brand name and cheese varieties, logo, brand persona and packaging design.
Idea/solution: A manufacturer of dairy products from Tatarstan set us a task - to create a recognizable brand for a line of hard cheeses. The prerequisite: a pronounced national flavor.
We created a brand character - a mischievous boy named Syrmalai wearing a skullcap and an embroidered shirt. In the name we combined the name of the product itself - “cheese”, and the Tatar word “malai” - “boy, teenager”.
In the design of the logo we used an element of national ornament - a stylized tulip. It replaced the diacritical mark above the letter “y”.
Each type of cheese has its own package color - red, green, yellow. These are the colors of the state symbols of the republic. The names of the varieties have a direct relation to the culture of Tatarstan: “Khansky”, “Batyrsky”, “Kazansky”.
We have provided a transparent “window” on the packaging so that the consumer could assess the quality and freshness of the product. The brand character seems to be holding a slice of cheese in his hands, offering it to the customer.
