Interior as the Harmony of the Spiritual and the Secular

Client
PRO The Archpriest's Residence of the Cathedral Hram-Na-Krovi in the Name of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Land of Russia, Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Region, Yekaterinburg Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Task
To design a renovated interior for the conference hall of the Cathedral Hram-Na-Krovi, a special place that combines the functions of Yekaterinburg's main landmark and a world centre of pilgrimage associated with the history of the imperial family of Nicholas II.
The renovated conference hall of the Cathedral is a versatile space designed to accommodate events of various sizes and formats. The hall's design allows for easy adaptation to different tasks thanks to its flexible scenography and innovative lighting solutions developed specifically for this space.
The interior of the hall is inspired by the symbolism of Orthodox candles, an important element of spiritual tradition.
The central element of the design is an accent wall decorated with a unique texture that imitates thin wax candles. Lighting fixtures are organically integrated into this composition, not only complementing the overall artistic design, but also providing soft, comfortable lighting that fills the space with a special warmth and light.
Brass details symbolise divine radiance, eternity and spiritual purity, conveying deep symbolism.
The stage is the central element of the transformable space – thanks to a flexible system, the furniture can be adapted to suit various event formats.
A compact podium equipped with an integrated system for presentation equipment is used for lectures or speeches. The ergonomic design ensures the speaker's comfort, while the well-thought-out lighting system focuses the audience's attention on the speaker.
An automated stage curtain control system ensures smooth opening and closing, creating professional transitions between performances, while a built-in motorised screen serves as an effective addition for displaying visual content.
For interviews or face-to-face conversations, the scene is transformed to create a comfortable setting for conversation: two deep, soft velour armchairs and an elegant coffee table create an atmosphere conducive to confidential discussions. Soft lighting and sound equipment ensure optimal conditions for dialogue.
When organising panel discussions or formal meetings, the stage is transformed into a presidium. The long oval table made of natural wood is designed for four people. Each seat is equipped with a microphone. Chairs with soft fixed backrests ensure comfort during long periods of sitting.
For warm conversations, profound reflections, and words that touch the heart
The brass logo of the Cathedral looks impressive, but it does not dominate; instead, it blends harmoniously with the surrounding atmosphere.
Even wayfinding elements, such as seat numbering and technical inscriptions, have been carefully thought out and neatly integrated into the space.
This embodiment of design makes the conference hall not just a functional venue for meetings and events, but also a spiritually rich space where everyone can feel the depth, symbolism and beauty of the Orthodox tradition.
