AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL: NAVIGATION AT EKATERINBURG-EXPO

Client: Sinara-Development Company

Task: To develop navigation for the new congress center as part of Ekaterinburg-Expo, a signage system to organize automobile traffic, and a concept for the facade design of the first exhibition pavilion. To design and install advertising structures and stop complex.
Solution:
In summer 2019, the GMIS-2019 Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit was held in Ekaterinburg. Ekaterinburg-Expo was chosen as the venue for the summit. Preparations for the event took 2 years. During this time the territory of the complex was renovated, and the complex of buildings was supplemented with a modern congress center. Brandiziac was among those who worked on the new look of the expocenter.
From the very beginning, the Congress Center was conceived as a prestigious venue for international events. It is designed for events with the participation of a high status audience: from the first persons of the states to the stars of the world. The class of the building determined luxury solutions, which were implemented by the agency. The team was inspired by the architecture, which reflects the metaphor of megaliths of the Urals.
The first exhibition pavilion is connected to the congress center, so the agency's architects suggested using broken lines to visually unite the two buildings. The same solution was used in the design of the stop complex, and the design of advertising billboards repeats the V-shaped supports of the congress hall itself.
One of the agency's tasks is to organize car traffic. To avoid congestion in the parking lot, specialists have developed stands with scoreboards showing the current number of available parking spaces. Another development is a mobile transformer cart with a multimedia screen. It can be easily moved and installed in the right place, and the driver can see where the less busy section is. Steles, row number posts and exit signs have been created for each sector of the parking lot.
Smooth and flowing forms became the connecting link of the navigation media, they refer to the facade of the building. Artificial stone, an expensive and adaptive material, was chosen as the main material for steles, signs and plaques inside the congress hall. Plastic carriers work in conjunction with the backlighting, which repeats the bronze accent in the interior design.
Internal navigation distributes the flow of guests on 40 thousand square meters between the transformer hall for 5 thousand guests and more than 40 rooms - conference halls, meeting rooms, restaurant and recreation areas. White color was used as the main color for the media in the guest space, and graphite color was used for the service areas. For inscriptions, a grotesque, chopped font was chosen, which is easy to read in motion.
On the territory of the exhibition center there are stands with an expo map - a scheme of the congress center location, exhibition pavilions, parking areas and a stopping complex. The constructions are made of composite material with inlaid acrylic glass and LED backlighting.
