RESPECTING THE SPIRIT OF HISTORY: NAVIGATION FOR THE SINARA CENTER

Client:
Sinara-Development Company

Task:
Sinara-Development restored the ensemble of buildings of the hospital of Verkh-Isetsky Zavod, an architectural monument of the first half of the 19th century. The four renovated buildings now house the Sinara Center cultural and exhibition complex. The client approached us when finishing works were underway at the site. Our team had to develop a logo for the new cultural center, create external and internal navigation, seamlessly blending it into the historical context.
Solution:
To maintain the atmosphere of the early 19th century, we used brass color in the design concept. The logo of Sinara Center is laconic - a stylized letter “C” and the name of the cultural and exhibition complex.

At the main gate guests are greeted by a navigation stand with information about the past of the architectural monument and the layout of the main facilities. The same stand is placed at the gate overlooking the public garden - pedestrians coming from the direction of Kommunarov Square can learn about the new cultural object for the city.
For navigation and information boards, we chose a modern antiqua with a historical context. The traditional arrow indicating the direction of travel has been replaced by a corner, which visually unites the text into a single block. To distinguish the inscriptions for speakers of different languages, we used straight and italic font.
Signposts have been installed on the territory to help visitors navigate the location of the buildings. Their bases are stylized lampposts that emphasize the historical context. And at the entrances to the buildings there are façade plaques in a common style.
Internal navigation is carefully integrated into the interiors, with individual solutions for each surface. We have developed a whole series of navigation media: signs, stands, plaques and pictograms to mark technical rooms.
The agency's team carried out a full cycle of works at the site: from idea development and design to manufacturing and installation of structures.
